As with may such stories, these stands came about when I needed stands for my family’s ranch. I went through several designs before I hit upon the venerable “H” in steel tubing.
“The Rest”, as they say, “is History.”
As with may such stories, these stands came about when I needed stands for my family’s ranch. I went through several designs before I hit upon the venerable “H” in steel tubing.
“The Rest”, as they say, “is History.”
However, handling and storing traditional stands is somewhat awkward so I came up with the “folding” innovation. The legs are secured using 1/4” bolts with Wing Nuts so as to speed the process. These are UTILITARIAN target stands, intended to be thrown in the back of the truck, thrown out on the ground and to be, yes even, SHOT at!
Thus, the stands are dip painted so both the insides and outsides are coated. The legs are drilled for spike style stakes. The tolerance between the upright and the wooden furring strips (1x2”) is such that they can be tilted in the designed direction to accommodate cardboard backers from 18” out to 24+”.
I note with interest that when we started these stands in 1996, no one else was web-selling them. Over the past few years that number jumped to 12, then settled back down to about half a dozen. I note with particular interest that a couple of these websites put “rebuttals” in their “benefits” pages that are designed to bolster their claims over the BEAST stands. Pretty amusing to my way of thinking. If my stands are the standard to rebut, I MUST be doing something right (G)
I Still have the Dillon’esk “ALMOST No BS Warranty,” wherein, if the stand breaks or fails, for the lifetime of the stand, I will replace it with no questions.
>>IF<< however, you SHOOT the stand, I’ll give you a good (smiling) hard time BEFORE I replace the stand for you.

Pricing
I have managed, since the inception of the target stands, not to raise pricing on them and have even lowered the price. Sadly, the current economy requires that the pricing structure be altered.
Rather than raising the pricing in general, I’ve pushed the discount point a bit higher and accounted for shipping cost in a much better manner, doing an actual lookup for each zip and including the home delivery fees Fedex charges.
So, the stands run $40 for each. When one orders 5 stands, the price drops to $35 each.
As always, Law Enforcement, Military and Government get the Mil Discount from the start ($35).
Our new ordering system allows you to pay via PayPal OR, without having a PP account, to pay via Visa/Master/Discover.
As always I’ll be interested to hear any feedback about this system.
